Union-Tribune-- ESCONDIDO – The Escondido
Humane Society is making sure the tragedy at its shelter in 2001 will not happen
again. A new 15,000-square-foot facility on seven acres in north Escondido will
include among its safety features fire alarms and sprinklers, smoke detectors,
surveillance cameras, a security system and a live-in employee. The shelter cost
$3.7 million.

June 28, Council: Dog isn't emergency
MARBLEHEAD -- It appears the village will
have to wait a few more weeks before a police K-9 program is unveiled. Wednesday
night, Marblehead village council met in special session to vote on creation of
a K-9 initiative, featuring officer Phil Howell and his drug-sniffing dog, Alex.
Howell owns Alex and has agreed to pay for food, veterinarian bills and other
canine-related costs.

bobcat and a dog named Bob, and the woman who came between them. Valerie Farris,

own dog twice is out of jail. On Wednesday, Nancy Bosch, 51, pleaded no contest
to felony possession of stolen property. Initially, Bosch was also charged with

been in the county jail since her May 31 arrest.
